Philippine Regions and Provinces

How can you find your way around the Philippine Regions?
How do I know where I’m going?
Well in order to find out where you are going, the Philippine Islands have been divided into Philippine Regions.
Basically all 7,100 islands are broken down into three (3) island goups:
1) Luzon
2) Visayas
3) Mindanao
Then each island group is divided into regions and there are more than seventeen (17) different Philippine regions.
Luzon has eight (8) regions.
Visayas has three (3) regions.
Mindanao has six (6) regions.

Region VII - THE CENTRAL VISAYAS REGION


Welcome to Central Philippines....
   Central Visayas (FilipinoGitnang Kabisayaan) is a region of the Philippines, designated as Region VII. It is located in the central part of the Visayas island group, and consists of three provincesBoholCebu, andSiquijor— and the highly urbanized cities of Cebu CityLapu-Lapu, and Mandaue. The region is dominated by the native speakers of Cebuano. Cebu City is its regional center.
The land area of the region is 9,659.19 km. As of the 2010 census, it has a population of 6,800,180 people, making it the 5th most populous of the country's 17 regions.
History
     Regions first came to existence in on September 24, 1972, when the provinces of the Philippines were organized into 11 regions by Presidential Decree No. 1 as part of the Integrated Reorganization Plan of PresidentFerdinand Marcos.
By virtue of Executive Order No. 183 issued on May 29, 2015 by President Benigno Aquino III, the province of Negros Oriental was transferred to the Negros Island Region.

    As of the 2010 census, Central Visayas had a population of 6,800,180 people, making it the 5th most populous of the country's 17 regions. At the 2007 census, the population was 6,398,628 with a population density of 403.1 people per square kilometer (6,129.4/mi²). The 2007 census showed an average annual population growth rate of 1.59% from 2000 to 2007, significantly less than the national average of 2.04%.
     Cebuano is the dominant language of the region. Boholano is a dialectal variant of Cebuano spoken in Bohol. In the Camotes Islands, which is part of Cebu, Cebuano language is spoken in the towns of Tudela, Pilar and San Francisco. Except the town of Poro, in which, Porohanon is spoken (a variation or mixture of Cebuano, Hiligaynon (Ilonggo) and Masbateño language, with 87% Cebuano vocabulary). TagalogEnglish, andSpanish are also spoken in this region.

RIGION 4A Calabarzon

CALABARZON OverView


The word CALABARZON refers to the five provinces of CAvite, LAguna, BAtangas, Rizal and QueZON or formerly known as Region 4A. It has 19 congressional districts, 12 major cities, 130 municipalities and 4,011 barangays of 16,558 square kilometers with two international ports located in Batangas and Quezon and eleven major industrial zones located in Cavite, Laguna and Batangas and with a total population of 11,743,110 based on the 2008 census of the National Statistics Office agency update of April 2008.



The Bureau of Fire Protection CALABARZON, with a total of 1,376 uniformed and 49 non-uniformed personnel, as the only public safety agency under the Department of the Interior and Local Government with a specific mandate of:

  • Prevention and suppression of all destructive fires on buildings, houses and other similar structures;
  • Forests; Airports; Land Transportation vehicles and equipment;
  • Ship docked and wharves; Petroleum industry installation;
  • Enforcement of the Fire Code; and
  • Investigation of all causes of fire;
  • Assist AFP in times of National Emergencies; and
  • Establish at least one fire station in each Local Government Unit nationwide with adequate personnel and equipage.
The CALABARZON BFP is currently headed by our dynamic, enthusiastic and energetic director, FIRE CHIEF SUPERINTENDENT NIMFA D CUARTEL, CEO VI, the fire service of this region continuously improves its public safety services and community programs through the full compliance of the Fire Code of the Philippines and international standards.

CAVITE  
 
CAVITE is aprovince of thePhilippineslocated on the southern shores ofManila Bay in theCALABARZONregion inLuzon, just 30 kilometers south ofManila. Its capital is the city of Trece Martires. Cavite is surrounded by the provinces ofLaguna to the east andBatangas to the south. To the west lies the South China Sea.

LAGUNA  
 
Laguna is aprovince of thePhilippinesfound in theCALABARZONregion inLuzon. Its capital is Santa Cruz and the province is located southeast ofMetro Manila, south of the province ofRizal, west ofQuezon, north of Batangasand east ofCavite. Laguna almost completely surroundsLaguna de Bay, the largest lake in the country. The province got its name from theSpanish wordlago, which means lake.
Laguna is also famous among tourists for thePagsanjan FallsPila, Laguna Town Plaza, the wood carvings created by the people of Paeteand Pakil, the hot spring resorts in Los Baños on the slopes of Mt. Makiling, andHidden Valley Springs inCalauan.

BATANGAS 
 
Batangas is aprovince of thePhilippineslocated on the southwestern part of Luzon in theCALABARZONregion. Its capital isBatangas Cityand it is bordered by the provinces ofCavite andLaguna to the north andQuezon to the east. Across the Verde Island Passages to the south is the island ofMindoro and to the west lies the South China Sea.
Before the province came to be called Batangas, it was known in ancient times as the town of Bonbon. When it's Capital Town was declared to be Taal, the province also changed its name to Taal.
After some time, the Capital was transferred to the Town of Batangan, later Batangas City, and the Province changed its name once more after the Capital.

RIZAL 
 
Rizal is aprovince of thePhilippineslocated in theCALABARZONregion inLuzon, just 20 kilometers east of Manila. The province was named after the country's national hero,José Rizal. Rizal's capital is Antipolo City, although the provincial capitol is located inPasig City inMetro Manila, which was the previous capital.

QUEZON 
 
Quezon is aprovince of thePhilippineslocated in theCALABARZONregion inLuzon. The province was named afterManuel L. Quezon, the secondPresident of the Philippines, and its capital is Lucena City.Quezon City is not located in and should not be confused with Quezon province: Quezon City is located inMetro Manila, a region to the west of CALABARZON, while Quezon province is in eastern CALABARZON.
Quezon is located southeast ofMetro Manilaand it is surrounded by the provinces ofAurora to the north, Bulacan,RizalLagunaand Batangasto the west and the Camarinesprovinces to the east. Quezon lies on anisthmusseparating theBicol Peninsulafrom the main part of Luzon. The province also covers thePolillo Islandsin thePhilippine Sea.
A major tourism draw of the province is the famed Mt. Banahaw. The mountain is surrounded by spiritual mysticism. Many cults and religious organizations stay in the mountains and numerousCatholics visit the mountain during Holy Week.
